My Story

My journey has taken me to many different places, both physically and emotionally. Although I grew up primarily between Denver, CO and Beaufort, SC, I have lived in and traveled to many different places which have all expanded my view of the world and myself. Throughout it all, the sacredness of the womb has been a focal point and the catalyst/the "Chiron" of my life's purpose. Growing up, I experienced various womb trauma. Transversely, I always admired the journey of motherhood.

In 2015, I trained to be a certified birth doula, which deepened my passion for maternal care. The wisdom that I gained from my teachers, Ifetayo White and the late Thérèse Hak-Kuhn, stretched far beyond the technicalities of birth work. Simultaneously, I was finding myself as a woman who was still working through my womb trauma. I knew I wanted peace and freedom. But it wasn't until 2018, when I began my journey of digging deep, that I truly found what I was looking for. With the support of my wonderful mother, Iyanifa Ife, the guidance of spirit, and authors like Thich Nhat Hahn and Eckhart Tolle, I began meditating, journaling, and exploring the inner workings of the womb.

After the onset of Covid in 2020,  I studied under Alanna Kaivalya and received my RYT 200 in Vinyasa Yoga, as well as a certification in somatic therapy. Shortly after graduating, I crossed paths with another great teacher, Ed Matthews. He taught me the true power of incorporating all 8 limbs of yoga into my practice. It was through our sessions that I learned how to tap into my parasympathetic nervous system and began to scratch the surface of my subconscious. Later that year, I launched my first business, Live in Peace Yoga. With Live in Peace Yoga, I was able to share my practice all around the world. I spent the last six months of 2020 living it up in Barbados with my mother! It was the first time in our lives where we experienced true freedom and it was exhilarating. In the midst of the joyous festivities, I spent plenty of time in solitude- intentionally nurturing my womb. Life was never the same in all of the best ways. In 2021, I was a mentor for an online school called Our Sacred Wisdom, which centered their teachings around grounded spirituality and the importance of connecting with nature. I spent months sharing and communing with like-minded individuals who became my soul family.

The birth of my beautiful son in 2024 marked a transformative moment in my life. Even though life was definitely "life-ing", I was blessed to have a beautiful experience- start to finish due to the support from my community, prior perinatal knowledge, and the personal wellness the tools I've picked up along the way. As I embraced my new role as Mama Maya, I found myself drawn (again) to the world of maternal care. I knew I wanted to grow a supportive community and share my knowledge and tools with as many women as possible so that they too can be present in the wonderfully transformative experience that is creating, birthing, and nurturing life. Throughout my journey of becoming a new mother, a lot of themes surrounding my womb trauma became full circle. Though seemingly separate, I became aware of how interconnected pregnancy is with womb health and/or trauma- not just physically but also energetically. Every aspect of my experience inspired me to focus my teachings on the power of the womb. The vision was finally clear. I went on to complete training in prenatal and postpartum yoga and in October I was trained in IYABO Reiki I for Birth workers through the lineage of Ifetayo White. Today, I am proud to share my story and help others nurture themselves on their paths to total womb liberation.
